Hot Water Powered by the Sun: Sunsyphon
Meet Sunsyphon!
This innovative solar-powered system provides hot water for your home or workplace while saving energy and protecting the environment.
With Sunsyphon:
• You reduce your energy bills.
• You make an environmentally friendly choice.
• You enjoy safe and reliable hot water.
• Powerful electric backup heating via the 230V AC mains ensures sufficient hot water even on the darkest days. After the tank has completely cooled or emptied, water can be quickly reheated to a high temperature.
• Photovoltaic modules are easily connected using MC4 plug connectors. Since the entire system operates at a safe extra-low voltage, no electrician is required for installation or commissioning.
• Direct use of DC from the PV modules to heat water eliminates the need for an inverter or battery, making setup very simple while reducing cost and complexity.
• With up to 600 W DC, the PV hybrid thermosiphon heats water directly using solar energy. To ensure sufficient hot water on cloudy days, up to 2,000 Wp of PV panels can be connected and/or the intelligent 230V AC auxiliary heating system can be activated.

Sunsyphon Installation – Step by Step
The Sunsyphon is installed quickly and safely by professional teams. Here’s a detailed step-by-step guide:
Solar Panel Installation:
Solar panels are mounted on the roof or in an area with optimal sunlight exposure. Panels are secured with durable brackets.
Wiring and MC4 Connection:
Cables from the solar panels are carefully connected to the MC4 connectors.
These connectors provide a safe and waterproof connection.
The cables are routed to the MPPT board.
MPPT Board Connection:
Energy from the MC4 connectors enters the MPPT board.
The board regulates the energy and transfers it to the 600 W water heating element.
Safety Controls:
A safety thermostat is installed in the tank to prevent water from exceeding 90°C.
An NTC sensor continuously monitors the water temperature, ensuring the system stops heating at 65°C.

When connecting the device to the water pipes, please pay attention to the arrows and information rings around the cold and hot water pipes (inlet and outlet).
• The cold water pipe is marked with a blue ring.
• The hot water pipe is marked with a red ring.
Sunsyphon AC Connection
*If external mains power is connected, a target temperature for the tank (AC backup heating) can be set. This temperature is adjusted using the adjustable thermostat.
The system is controlled via the On/Off switch located on the front panel.
When the AC heater is active, the light on the switch turns on.
If the sun does not provide enough energy to heat the water for an extended period, the Sunsyphon can automatically reheat the water using the 230V AC backup system. To activate this reheating, set the tank’s thermostat to a minimum temperature value, e.g., 35°C.
When the water temperature drops below this minimum, the water is reheated using 1,500 W AC power from the mains. Once the water reaches the set minimum temperature again, the reheating stops automatically.
Note: During summer, when sunlight is strongest and heating is provided primarily by PV energy, it is recommended to set the adjustable thermostat to the lowest temperature.
When sunlight is insufficient, the adjustable thermostat can be set to the desired temperature (recommended range: 35°C – 45°C). The factory setting is 40°C.
How Does Sunsyphon Work?
Sunsyphon uses solar energy to heat water. Here's a simple and effective process of how the system works:
1. Solar Panel: A solar panel converts sunlight into electricity.
2. MC4 Connectors: The cables from the solar panels are connected to the MPPT controller via MC4 connectors.
3. MPPT Controller: This controller manages the energy from the solar panels and transfers it to the 600-watt water heater resistors.
4. Heating: Water is heated through specially manufactured copper resistors.
5. Automatic Control: When the water reaches 65°C, the system automatically stops. If the water temperature drops below 65°C and there is sunlight, the system will restart.
6. Extra Safety: If the water temperature reaches 90°C, the safety thermostat is activated, and the entire system shuts down. (This part can be added as a YouTube video screen in the prepared video.)
Why Do We Use an MPPT Controller?
•Why do we use an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) controller in our Sunsyphon system instead of connecting the solar panels directly to the resistors? Here are the brief and clear answers:
•Higher Efficiency: The MPPT controller uses the solar energy with the highest efficiency, even on cloudy days, to heat water quickly.
•Safety: By managing the energy, it prevents overheating or system failures.
•Energy Savings: The system stops heating when the water reaches 65°C, avoiding unnecessary energy consumption.
•Longevity: It protects the resistors and panels, extending the lifespan of your system.
In summary: The MPPT controller is the brain of our system. It manages energy intelligently, heating water safely and economically. A direct connection would lead to energy loss and risks.
Safety Features
Sunsyphon is designed with your and your family's safety in mind:
• Low Voltage: The system operates at a safe open-circuit voltage of 50 volts DC for human health.
• Overheating Protection: The safety thermostat automatically shuts down the system if the water reaches 90°C.
• Automatic Control: When the water reaches 65°C, the MPPT electronic control system stops, saving energy and preventing overheating.
Why Sunsyphon?
• Economical: Solar energy is free, reducing your energy bills.
• Eco-Friendly: It doesn’t use fossil fuels, reducing your carbon footprint.
• Safe: Provides full protection with low voltage and a safety thermostat.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. What is the Sunsyphon hybrid water heater?
It is a smart, dual-energy water heater that works both with free energy from solar panels (DC) and, when sunlight is insufficient, with grid electricity (AC).
2. Does the PV water heating system work in winter?
Yes. The panels generate electricity even in cold and cloudy weather. On sunny winter days, it can heat the water significantly; on overcast days, it at least warms the water, reducing grid electricity usage.
3. Which is better for heating water: solar collector or solar panel (PV)?
The solar panel (PV) system is superior:
No risk of freezing.
Zero maintenance.
High winter performance.
More durable.
4. Is installation of this system difficult?
No. It is much easier than traditional systems. There is no need for a heavy water tank on the roof.Installation is fast with only lightweight solar panels and simple wiring, keeping labor costs low.
5. Will there be hot water at night?
Yes. Thanks to the hybrid design, when there is no sunlight, the system automatically switches to grid electricity and keeps the water at your desired temperature.
