SunBoil Installation Guide
SunBoil is installed quickly and safely by professional teams. Here’s a step-by-step detailed explanation of the installation process:
Solar Panel Installation:
The solar panels are mounted on the roof or in an area that receives maximum sunlight. Panels are secured using durable brackets.
Wiring and MC4 Connection:
Cables from the solar panels are carefully connected to the MC4 connectors.
These connectors provide a safe and waterproof connection.
Cables are routed to reach the MPPT board.
MPPT Board Connection:
Energy from the MC4 connectors enters the MPPT board.
The board regulates this energy and transfers it to the 1200W water heating element.
Placement of Heating Elements:
The heating elements are positioned inside the water tank and heat the water using energy supplied from the MPPT board.
On/Off Switch:
The system is controlled via an On/Off switch.
When the switch is turned On, the system automatically starts if sunlight is available and begins heating water if the temperature is below 65°C.
Safety Checks:
A safety thermostat is installed in the tank to prevent water from exceeding 90°C.
The NTC sensor continuously monitors water temperature and ensures the system stops heating at 65°C.
How Does SunBoil Work?
How SunBoil Works
SunBoil heats water using solar energy. Here’s the simple and effective working process of the system:
Solar Panels: Two solar panels convert sunlight into electricity.
MC4 Connectors: Cables from the solar panels are connected to the MPPT board via MC4 connectors.
MPPT Board: This board manages the energy from the solar panels and transfers it to the 1200W water heating element.
Heating: Water is heated through specially designed copper heating elements.
Automatic Control: The system automatically stops heating when the water reaches 65°C. If the water temperature drops below 65°C and sunlight is available, the system restarts.
Extra Safety: If the water temperature reaches 90°C, the safety thermostat activates and shuts down the entire system.
SunBoil AC Electrical Connection (Optional)
SunBoil AC Electrical Connection (Optional)
The SunBoil water heating device has a dedicated mounting space for an AC heating element powered by the mains.
If sunlight cannot provide sufficient energy to heat the water for an extended period, the SunBoil can automatically reheat the water using the 230V AC backup heating system.
Note: During summer, when sunlight is strongest and heating is primarily powered by PV energy, it is recommended to set the adjustable thermostat to the lowest temperature.
When sunlight is insufficient, the adjustable thermostat can be set to the desired temperature (recommended range: 35°C – 45°C). The factory default setting is 40°C.
Why Do We Use an MPPT Board?
In our SunBoil system, why do we use an MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) board instead of connecting the solar panels directly to the heating elements? Here are the clear and simple answers:
• Higher Efficiency: The MPPT board utilizes solar energy at the highest efficiency, heating water quickly even on cloudy days.
• Safety: It regulates energy flow, preventing overheating or system malfunction.
• Energy Saving: When the water reaches 65°C, the system stops heating to avoid unnecessary energy consumption.
• Longer Lifespan: It protects the heating elements and solar panels, extending the overall lifespan of your system.
In summary: The MPPT board is the brain of the system. It intelligently manages energy to heat water safely and efficiently.Direct connection leads to energy loss and potential risks.
Safety Features
SunBoil is designed with your safety and your family’s protection in mind:

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)
1) What is an MPP tracking device?
An MPP Tracker adjusts the power of the boiler / heating element according to the instantaneous power of the photovoltaic panels. It is used to optimize photovoltaic efficiency under all weather conditions. A solar boiler or solar heating element without an MPP tracker cannot operate satisfactorily.
2) Why is a conventional solar thermal system not used?
There are several reasons:
-
Lower investment costs. Photovoltaic modules have become approximately 90% cheaper over the last 20 years.
-
Much easier installation, as only electrical cabling is required.
-
Unlike solar thermal systems, photovoltaic modules generate electricity (or heat) even in cloudy and cold weather. This is especially beneficial in winter, when heat demand is highest.
-
No moving parts such as pumps. This extends service life and reduces maintenance costs.
3) At what photovoltaic power does the heating process start?
The heating process starts at a photovoltaic power of 7 watts. Hot water preparation begins just a few seconds after sunrise. The solar boiler or solar heating element continuously regulates the heating power up to its maximum output, depending on the available solar energy.
4) Direct current (DC) or alternating current (AC)? Why do Sunboil products use DC?
All Yeşilev products use the direct current generated directly by photovoltaic modules. This ensures maximum efficiency, with almost no conversion losses. In addition, significant costs associated with inverters are avoided. The use of direct current is a core principle of Yeşilev products.
5) Can Sunboil operate as an off-grid system without being connected to the utility grid?
Yes, Sunboil can also be operated as an off-grid system. MC4 connectors are available for the PV modules. In short, Sunboil can be operated solely with photovoltaic electricity.
6) What should be considered when selecting the correct photovoltaic modules?
In principle, photovoltaic modules from any brand can be used.
When purchasing photovoltaic modules, pay attention to the specified open-circuit voltage of 50 V DC. The open-circuit voltage of the solar module must not exceed the open-circuit voltage stated in the Sunboil datasheet. (The Voc value indicated on the panel label must be a maximum of 50 volts.)
7) What is the maximum recommended length of a 6 mm² extension cable between the solar panel and the Sunboil device?
The solar cable between the Sunboil device and the photovoltaic panels can be up to 25 meters long. A minimum of 6 mm² solar cable is recommended.
Background information:
The longer the cable and the higher the power flowing through it, the higher the electrical losses in the cable. This helps put cable losses into perspective. In summer, when high solar power flows through the cables in good weather, slightly higher losses can be acceptable, as solar energy is abundant. During the winter season, both the benefits and the losses are correspondingly lower.
8) Should photovoltaic modules be connected in parallel or in series? Why?
Parallel connection. All Yeşilev products are designed to operate with photovoltaic modules connected in parallel. This keeps the overall system voltage low. Only the electrical current from the photovoltaic modules is combined. Since all Yeşilev systems operate within the protective extra-low voltage range, no electrician is required for installation. This reduces installation costs and increases safety. To connect photovoltaic modules in parallel, use the provided parallel connectors (Y-plugs).
